Acceptance

You turn to the calm of the buddhists
and the resolve of the stoics
and are reminded
that real peace comes
only with
acceptance
of fate

and death is the truest fate
and thus the truest acceptance
for
after all

even the sun sets

…but

theoretically

If you flew a plane fast enough, right?
Fueled it in the air repeatedly, right?
Arranged an efficient crew sleep cycle, right?
Timed it just right, right?

you could
never see a sunset…

I mean, really,
the sun doesn’t even set.
That’s misleading language.
It didn’t go anywhere.
We just don’t get to see it for a couple of hours
because this stupid planet
(which I didn’t even chose to be born on btw)
won’t stop spinning.

Meanwhile Madagascar
or whatever
still has light
while I’m over here in
the numbness of twilight

why why why
this sucks
i don’t want it i don’t want it
